The Void Exodus

Extinction

42

This is the tale of the creation of Magulus, the extinction of the old Deffdrians , Kamaharo's first journey outside the Void, the genesis of the new Deffdrians, and ultimately the sealing away of Kamaharo.

The Void and the universe have a constant influence on each other, most notably in weaker areas where the barrier between the two realities is not as strong as it normally is. The planet of Deffdria is a good example of this, as it is near a particularly weakened area. The sapient life there, the Deffdrians, began to become more and more in-tune with the Void over a period of hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Each generation grew more and more aware of it, and yearned to break the barrier between realities. Soon, their entire culture was focused on that very task.
The resources and elements on Deffdria became warped and corrupted, changed by the presence of the Void. Soon a material was created, one that, upon experimentation by a curious young Deffdrian, seemed to be able to pierce through space itself and into nothingness. It was refined and forged into a blade, one which could cut open reality itself and shred through the barrier between realities, which they called Magulus. The Deffdrians were ecstatic - their species-wide goal had been met, and they used Magulus to cut open the barrier.
Out from the cut, which was several miles long, came the barely-formed, mindless masses of sentience that were the Void beasts. Despite most of them not being powerful enough to hold physical forms in the Void, they still were more than strong enough to slaughter and devour the creatures that lived on Deffdria in their endless and insatiable hunger. One such beast was Kamaharo, who stretched the hole by himself to accommodate his massive, planetary size. There were a group of Voidborn that had stayed near the weakened barrier before it was opened. They were changed by the universe on the other side, much like it had been changed by the Void. They were no longer the brainless and destructive beings they once were. They had grown a great appreciation for the universe and wanted to preserve it. They came through after the other Void creatures had devoured everything, and they studied the world around them. Basing themselves off of what was left, they formed themselves as the Deffdrians who had given everything to release them. They even took on their name.
The new Deffdrians watched as the other Void beings, especially Kamaharo, destroyed everything in their path. They went on a hunt, slaying the Void beings they could. However, given that Kamaharo was large enough to destroy and devour planets, they were unable to defeat him even with the power of Magulus. They made chains from Void matter and dragged him into the Void using Magulus, in the hopes that he would stay there forevermore.
