Mimic

Mimics are a strange hybrid existence, falling somewhere between the artificial material creatures known as constructs and the otherworldly and horrifying abberations. They derive their name from their primary ability, concealing themselves as an innocuous inanimate object and luring their prey into their reach. Common mimic disguises includes treasure chests, carpets and stone walls and floors.
Most mimics are permanently formed into a single disguise, even taking on the attributes and material properties of the item. A few more powerful mimics are capable of actively revising their form or creating new disguises from ambient magical energy. These advanced mimics and this strange capability are what drew the avid attention of Varex Illan to the study of mimics. 
True Humanoid-Mimics have never been discovered in nature but rumor has it that some particularly advanced magical researchers have succeeded in creating them. Resistance forces have also confirmed the existence of the Dungeon-Heart, an intelligent hybridized Mimic capable of growing and evolving by absorbing ambient magical energy.
