Palanthas

Built on the southeast coast of Thordin's Lake, Palanthas is the capital of the free cities of the mainland. It is the largest city in the known human realm. The king of the entire region lives and rules here, in the Silverstone Castle. While the royal king sits on the throne, the politics of Palanthas are heavily influenced by the mighty Paladin Order, that has it's headquarters in the city.
The city is the most culturally and racially diverse place in all of free cities, and most lesser represented races have their own communities where they can feel at home. The Paladin Order makes sure that racism and tension between the districts is at a minimum, although this is not always a simple task.

Majority human but almost all races are represented and have their own communities.

Government

The royal family technically governs and rules from the Silverstone Castle, but in practice most of the decisions are made by the senate.

Defences

The entire city is surrounded by a tall wall and is located pretty much in the middle of the kingdom, so armies are extremely unlikely to catch the capital off guard.
