Sandsong Oasis

The Sandsong Oasis was the largest of few settlements that lived in the barren Adriex, and the farthest inland at that. It was well known for its spiralling towers and glistening water, travelers from within and outside the Adriex often went, making it a well-established trading kingdom between the Adriex and the Intera. Travelers often described it as "mesmerising" and "orderly" in refernce to the well kept system of jobs, recreation, and sustainability of resources.   The Adriex is home to a diverse ecosystem of animal and plants, which were used by the Sandsoni to build and create. They valued and used all parts of the ecosystem, from the fur of a stafil for woven tapestry and clothing, a common practice, to the bark of a vishtol for canoes and market stalls.   Vishtol bark had multiple uses to them, and still does in present day. It would be used for boats and markets, as previously mentioned, and was what paper was made from. However, vishtol trees weren't very populous around the oasis, surviving better in drier places in the Adriex, so paper and other vishtol products were used sparingly. This coinicidentally made Sandsoni writing very consice and meaningful, making them famous for poetry with those qualities.   The Sandsoni were also famous for their tapestry made from animal furs, most commonly stafil. Stafils were most popular around the oasis, but there were other creatures alongside them being used for tapestry. Sandsoni tapestry was most known for its bright colors while still maintaining the feeling of the Adriex within it. The most common colors of taspestry were blue and red, contrasting the harsh, dry Adriex with the calm and relaxing oasis waters.   Music was a huge influence to the Sandsoni, hearing the wind almost sing at night under the stars gave the first musicians inspiration to write, allowing community to be built under extreme conditions. The influence of music then created the Sanvali Toranta, a yearly music festival situated around the planting of crops, and the Sontilan Toranta, a yearly festival situated around the harvest of crops.   The Sandsoni government was able to stay on good terms with most other kingdoms, except for one. Sylvamere was and has always been the most powerful kingdom in the Intera, possibly the entirety of Solsticea. Power corrupts, and the two kingdoms had been locked in a perpetual war for many centa, although nithing became of it for most of the issues. Disagreements throughout international meetings were the most for a long time. Certain leaders were worse to each other than others, but overall they kept it fairly civil. No one thought anything would become of it.   The Fall of the Sandsong Oasis: As most good things go, they must end eventually. After many centa and millia, the fought again in a battle. Part of Sylvamere's army, under Vortigern the Ironclad's rule, ventured out into the Adriex to attack.

Demographics

Most of the Sandsong Oasis was made up of Sandsoni-identifying people, approximately ninety one percent of it's population. The other nine percent was comprised of people who moved from the Intera. Out of these people, seventy six percent were of the middle class, fifteen were lower class, and nine percent were upper class. The middle class worked mostly as healthcare workers, first responders, and educators. The lower class worked mostly as merchant, fishermen, and smiths, while the upper class were landlords and business owners.

Government

The Sandsong Oasis was ruled by a Rahim, the head of a council of officials to create law and order with the borders of the Oasis. The Rahim could be anyone capable within the direct royal line, gender was not a factor in who the rahim was. The royal family were also known as the Inoba, having the same powers as Inobus, jokingly to provide comfort on scorching days in the Adriex heat. This council was made of twelve elected officials and was split up into three separate branches, each looking over a different part of government, working together to make laws that best benefit the people. The first branch was the EcoBranch. These officials were in charge of managing the economics of the Oasis. Then, there was the EduBranch. These officials were the ones who created the school system, the curriculum, and employed those who employed teachers and other school workers. Finally, the EnfoBranch. This was the branch that employed first responders such as police and healthcare workers, and created the healthcare system.

Climate

The climate of the Sandsong Oasis is similar year-round, with warm days only tolerable with the cools air surrounding the oasis.

Natural Resources

Natural resources the Sandsoni had available to them include a range of flora and fauna. Most commonly, stafil furs were used for tapestry or clothing and stafil meat was common food. Vishtols are trees that thrived in dry, barren climates, but were sturdy, and were often used by the Sandsoni for boats and market stalls. Vishtol bark was also inportant as it was one of the main ingredients in making paper in the Adriex.
