Oruk'dae

The Oruk'dae were the first beings to inhabit Solendar, which was then known as Atlina. They were blessed with long life and charged with protecting the younger species, who often refered to them as the titans. Even though they all consider themselves to be siblings, the Oruk'dae have incredibly varied appearances. There are dragons, giant birds, a giant bear, snakes as long as rivers, and many others. Several of their kind died in the War of Angels, and the of the nearly two dozen that lived on after the war, the majority fled to the Tower of Life, and only six remained in Solendar.    After millennia of seeing those they knew pass on, most of the Oruk'dae have entered a deep hibernation, waiting for Koltoros to return, and to fight them once again. Because of their enormous size and long sleep, some of the titans have had enough sediment cover them to become mountains. A few of those who still wake watch over specific areas, the great drake known as Maulnir watches over Arundelli, for example. The titans are worshipped by some of the younger races.   The titans are very proud and extremely teritorial creatures. They are not fond of higher beings coming into their territories without prior notice, and will defend any of the younger races in their lands from any threat (aside from natural disasters, as, for the most part, there's nothing they can do against nature).
