Skolo-Woguoese War
The Skolo-Woguoese War started on May 12th 1889 and ended on June 14th 1890 making it a reletively short war. This of course did not make it any simpler or any less bloody. It started as a simple trade dispute and quickly turned into Woguo pressing its claims on Skolotoin colonies in Asia. King Alexander II only allowed the conflict to escalate because he thought the Woguoese had too much of a problem with opium to fight an actual war. This turned out to not be true and resulted in Alexander realizing his errors only little after a year later and conceding defeat.
The Conflict
Aftermath
The Skolo-Woguoese War had horrible effects on Skolotoin national morale and resulted in the loss of every major colony Skolotoi had in Asia. Azukai turned to have a positive outcome from the war as it allowed the county to gain some land that Woguo possessed nearby. While this land was perfect for farming lemons, it did little to pay for the large loss of life that the war caused. Workers weren't able to return to factories, farmers were unable to return to their fields, sons never saw their fathers again, and wives never had a chance to embrace their husbands once more. The massive loss of life in the war legitimized the throne and led to several looking for political alternatives to help them. It is considered that the Federation would not have separated from the Monarchy and the revolt in Warrensburg would not have happened if this war that lasted little over a year never was.
Historical Significance
Legacy
It was during this time that King Alexander banned lemon vodka in order to decrease alcoholism among workers and soldiers during the war in a ban that is still in effect to this day. Woguo seems not to remember the war at all and diplomacy between the two countries goes on as if it never happened.
