NOTES FROM THE ALIUS THE PIUS OF TANNAMAN ABOUT THE PLAGUE OF LHEGAR The Pestilence of Lhegar has had limited research done upon it given its localised nature to the city-state of Lhegar, but what little testing has happened has revealed that the plague is mainly spread through contact with blood and bodily fluids. This meant that at the start the cities funeral rituals were extremely effective at transmitting the disease, the traditional funeral involves holding the body of the deceased in a room the house whilst the family come to touch it and pay their respects to the body.

Symptoms

Symptoms include: stage one: swelling around the face and a red rash that starts in the extremities, such as fingers and toes (This can often be overlooked as other minor illnesses). Stage two: The rash will develop into bleeding lesions that will help to spread the disease, the patient may also develop a chronic cough and complain of a taste of copper or metal Stage three: The rash will open into mostly bleeding tissue that can sometimes rub all the way down to the bone on fingers and feet. The cough will become much more sever and the patient will start coughing blood and start choking on the blood in their lungs. stage four: The final stage the patient will choke on their own blood whilst experiencing violent coughing fits that will transmit the plague across great distances. In some cases the patient also developed bleeding through the skin and eyes before death.

Treatment

Currently there is no known treatment for the Lhegar plague, but the funeral rights that at the beginning exacerbated the plague have seen a noticeable decline. Although the plague is mainly located in the quarantined city of Lhegar the researchers of the Tannaman empire have started studying it to try to develop measures aginst it should it spread beyond the free states.
