Huma

The huma are humanoid in nature, with soft skin and little defense. They are intelligent life and tend to gravitate towards more technological advances than nature-based. They have a deep love for metal and cities, though seem to long for the forest, they do not like living in the forests.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They are bipedal, walk upright and have nearly symmetric bodies. Two eyes, one nose, one mouth, two ears...

Genetics and Reproduction

They have normal human reproduction procedures and birth.

Growth Rate & Stages

Huma have fairly long lives, living to about 150 years. Once they get older they tend to shrink and grow grey.

Ecology and Habitats

Typically huma need cities, towns or large camps to exist in and do not do well in the "Wild" as they call it. They can survive outside of these structures, but the purer the huma DNA the more delicate they become.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Almost all huma and derived species are omnivores. Most huma prefer to eat meat however.

Biological Cycle

Huma are very sensitive to the seasons and weather changes. They tend to get ill in Spring and Fall. They also cannot handle extremes very well.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The more pure you get into the Huma species (that is, no derivation from the DNA line) the less they have, but the smarter they seem to be. Over time there have been so many branches of the Huma race that there are very few pure Huma alive.   The Dwarf Huma are more skilled with stone, feeling the earth and can even tell things like earthquakes and where certain minerals are. They have their own origin species story.   The Rockel huma are rather dull. They are not smart, but they do work. They can work hard for much longer than regular huma. They are capable of learning speech but are not very good with technology and are typically afraid of magic. They also have their own origin species story.

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

They mainly inhabit the Basalta Isles and some of Fomoria.   Main cities in Fomoria include: Cataliira, Esanir, Kampala, Caracaz and Hastings.

Beauty Ideals

They have a fairly high beauty standard, they believe that they should be as close to the fae race as possible as they hold them very highly. As their own people, the huma desire clean appearances and smells. They also prefer brighter colors in most cases, though some derived huma like darker earth colors.

Gender Ideals

They have established genders of male and female, they don't like to dabble in gender too much and seem to be a little closed or dumb to the ideas of the blurred lines of gender.

Courtship Ideals

Typically the males of the species court the females, and the females are expected to pick and choose from suitors. There is a little randomization with the choosing and it isn't a big ordeal in most cases, unless of course they are in a royal or prominent family.

Relationship Ideals

The men work and the females stay at home typically. It is not taboo to have both in the relationship work but it is preferred if it is the other way.

Average Technological Level

They have discovered much as a species in the ways of mechanics and have paved the way for the worlds. They have invented many forms of travel, such as the train and moving mechanical horse.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

The official huma language is named "common"

Common Etiquette Rules

Huma, at heart, are very polite and will almost always greet each other and show respect to each other in public. They tend to hold fights until they are alone or it is night time and no one is around. They have a very high social awareness.

Common Dress Code

They usually wear anything from relaxed tops and bottoms to done up suits for business. They prefer fancier dress the purer DNA they get.

Common Taboos

Getting dirty when there's no call for it, acting out in public, speaking rudely, disobeying laws

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They view other types of huma as almost equals though they do have horrible opinions on certain "mixed breeds".   The fae race, and most of the offspring of it, are held in a very, very high regard. They will fall over themselves to be a part of their world if they are able.
