Siege of Telsor

The first large-scale military engagement of the Dinalom-Raangyrn war. The orch army attacked with the element of surprise, using carefully-shepherded magical portals to lay siege to Telsor, and following up with the bulk of their western navy to blockade and destroy Telsor's port.   Though fleet-footed messengers managed to slip out and get word to Sandorith, the yrch had breached city walls and there was fighting in the streets before reinforcements could arrive. Ultimately, however, those reinforcements, and unexpected help from the Se'equinar navy, managed to drive the yrch back, securing a hard-fought victory for Dinalom.

The Conflict

Outcome

This was the beginning of open hostilities between Raangyrn and Dinalom as nations, as opposed to the skirmishes and covert action engaged in up to this point. Now Dinalom knew they were facing an actual nation of yrch, and they entered true war footing.

Aftermath

The outright revelation of Raangyrn's numbers and strength in the Siege of Telsor marked the first time that nation was known to the majority of Carathi civilization.   The arrival and decisive naval victory of Se'equinar's ships left Raangyrn with practically no maritime presence on the Maresirel Sea. Rather than begin a hopeless arms race with a now-wary Se'equinar, Raangyrn chose to focus all of its future naval efforts on the Sea of Spirits, through Yrkanan. This led to the Ironside Raid of the Band of the Semi-Conscious, and ultimately to an expansion of the Nyambe slave trade.   The participation in the battle of Belenar delToranal is credited by (non-Athkite) historians for his efforts to raise an Anzoran crusade against Raangyrn, though only with the subsequent revelation of Loduen's location did these efforts bear fruit.
