Dr. William VanZant
Dr. Van Zant is a very powerful necromancer who was spurned by the Council of Nine for trying to achieve divinity. He failed at this attempt and It turned Him into a creature similar to a Lich. Standing as tall as he wishes, his body seemingly made of shadows, Dr. Van Zant has picked up a teaching job in the Edenan Empire's school of magic, The Burning Halls of Inspiration.
The Early Life of Dr. William Van Zant
born in the year 716 ER among the elves of Moondel Kingdom, in a town called Aster. Through the course of his life Van Zant was known for having a fascination for death and skeletal figures. The elves of Moondel have a deep hatred for necromancy and his projects made him an outcast among his peers. This treatment caused him to grow cold emotionally. This lead to his projects becoming darker and darker until he could create what he called "Skeleton Puppets".
His first real experiment was on a person Van Zant only refers to as his "brother", a close friend who met his untimely demise due to sickness. Van Zant stole his brothers body in the dead of night and attempted to resurrect him through necromancy. At the time Van Zant had little power and failed in his attempts, leaving his brothers body destroyed save for the now skeletal hands. Van Zants failure galvanized him toward his research, no longer caring that his friend was dead Van Zant saught to rectify his failure and continued his research into skeletal animation, eventually creating his infamous Skeletal Hands he calls his "Marionettes"
The Frantic Research of an Obsessive Mind
Dr. Van Zant has a tendency to fixate on a topic until his theory is proven correct, or proven wrong beyond a shadow of his doubt. This often leads Van Zant to take risks and sacrifice great amounts of resources in what most would call futile efforts.

Before becoming a professor at the Burning Halls Dr. Van Zant had last been seen frequenting religious ruins to the eight lunar deities, specifically Sileam of the Darkmoon The Eight Lunar Realms and their Deities

Described only as "The Accident" Dr. Van Zant claims that during a botched experiment he became something like a lich, however instead of a phylactery He created an anchor to the mortal world.
