Auestein's military is largely a feudal system that primarily relies on a combination of household troops, militias (both peasant and town), and mercenaries.

Foreign Relations

The Duchy of Auestein has a tense relationship with the Free and Imperial City of Livbeck. The tension is primarily due to the Dukes of Auestein have traditionally considered the charter that gives Livbeck its self-government and its independence from Auestein to be illegitimate. This position has lead to several conflicts as Auestein tried to take Livbeck back. These conflicts have also brought in the Duchy of Sotsland, who have tried to deny Auestein the ownership of Livbeck.
