The First Mind

"The First Mind" is a document that was supposedly written by the worlds first Auway. It is held sacred by the Paragons of Dawn.

In the darkness, a long, deep breath pulled. In. Out. Deeper so. In, and then back out. Within the last breath, a spark of creation. Sounds, feeling, thoughts, sight, emotions, all cascading down into the eternal abyss of vast nothingness, catching it alight and creating what we know now to be... life... Everything, from nothing. I remember. Remember opening my eyes for the first time. The first time anyone had ever opened their eyes. I remember when the first day rose to grace the shimmering green fields. Setting the trees alight with warm yellow morning sunlight. I basked in the fresh daylight of the newly born sun. My hand came up to meet my damp cheek. Tears poured from my eyes as I moved, as I felt, as I took in more than... Nothing, more than I could ever expect to. Where was I before all of this wonder? Perhaps, I was the empty expanse of darkness. But now. I began to dance amongst the new flora and fauna, tears still cascading from my eyes. Everything so warm, so soft, I have never felt such a world since those few fleeting moments. Pure bliss, having everything from nothing all happen in an instant. I was ALIVE. The feeling was... overwhelming. My legs could not contain my excitement, I burst into a full sprint, not knowing where I was headed. Not knowing where I had been, not knowing anything. "Who am I?" I wondered. "Why, am I? There is everything to explore for me now, yet, why is it there for me to see? And why am I the one to see it? Me... I..." I stopped running. I was suddenly. Alone. I was alive. Yet did not ask for it to be this way. A cold breeze crossed over the plains, and around me. Shivering, I lay down in the grass, and began to cry new tears. Tears of a lonely realization. I let the feeling take me, and before long, I lost consciousness. A new feeling brought me back to consciousness. I opened my eyes and sat up, to see, another person, sitting across from me in the grass. "Hello." They said with a smile. the warmth of new discovery filled me once again, and I smiled back. "Hello... How... What is this?" The person gave me a look of confusion and was silent for a while. But their smile came back as they said, "This is us, let us just be. Everything is everything, and it is here for us to be. So let it." I did not understand, but I smiled and agreed. Their smile continued to fill me with more wonder, new feelings, new thoughts. They put out their hand, and I took it and stood with them. "What is your name?" I asked.. not actually sure why I had asked, not knowing even my own. The look of confusion came across their face once more as they looked about. With a shrug they said, "Au. I want it to mean... The Sunshine. Warmth... Grace." With another smile, they pulled me forward, a skip in their step. "Wouldn't you like to know mine?" I asked. They stopped, confused. "You do not even know your own. Let me give you your name! I did enjoy giving myself one, now it is your turn." I agreed, with a smile. "I would very much love that." They thought for a second, and smiled at me. "I know. Curio... It will mean... Wonder. The breeze. Questions! A good name I think." They smiled again as we continued to take in our new existence.
