The Timeless Church of Zagdon

Zagdon is an immaterial being able to assume physical form when it suits him. His specie was brought by the Vortex some time before the Age of Empires, and they orchestrated the whole thing as part of their endless fratricide quarrels. The kind of Zagdon formed pantheons and the powerful human families converted themselves into faithful followers of their teachings in exchange of power and knowledge.        He was the God of Evil, Magic, and a few other key concepts in his pantheon. One of the most important deities, as he should be since he was also one of the most cunning and powerful in his specie.        Zagdon was the first to fall, captured by two non-human races who had an alliance at the time: the frog-people, now extinct, and the plant people named ungnuie. They found a way to capture the immaterial beings and keep them prisoner, bleeding magical power that their captors could use for their own purposes. Their victory against Zagdon was only the first step, in a campaign responsible for end the Age of Empires.       In his first travel through Sharitarn Altair accidentally set Zagdon free from the ruins of the temple build by the frog-people to contain the deity.       The "Lovecraftian Monster", as Altair kindly named him, was almost entirely depleted of power. His allies and servants had disappeared, and he was a strange in this Age. Even the Continents and Oceans had moved. His most active enemies where gone, but their powerful allies are still present on Sharitarn. Too powerful to be faced by the god in his present state.       Zagdon moved his attention to those of larger longevity among his followers, and he found some. Directed by them he opened ancient vaults, and passages to forgotten refuges where the faith has survived.              The deity wants to rebuild his empire, but more than that he wants vengeance against those responsible for the outrage he suffered. The pain and the nausea of being blind and isolated: despoiled of his own essence drop by drop, hour by hour, by ephemeral three-dimensional being. Knowing that it had been his own mistake, his fault, let himself that vulnerable to inferior minds. Vengeance will not wash the humiliation away, but Zagdon intend to exercise it fully any way. That is his first priority now.        Will take time. The ungnui are one of the most powerful species on this Universe, one of the first intelligent races brought by the Vortex. They have the advantage of numbers, and must have allies Zagdon never knew about, possibly others they made while he was their prisoner.        One thing has not changed on Sharitarn since Zagdon first saw it: that remains a human world.        Obtain anything of importance on this planet involves deal with humanity, and directly or indirectly deal with their Mage's Brotherhood.           The Lovecraftian Monster has started his campaign looking for alliances, and sending his remaining followers to raise temples and altars in his name. He has no hostility directed against humanity in general, just against the humans who happen to be allies of ungniue race. However, if join forces with the enemies of Mage Brotherhood helps his plans Zagdon will consider the notion without any repulse.
