Brehar's mirror

"It is amazing! one second you are in the blazing deserts of Mair the next you find your self in the lush Kaperi jungle. While your first couple of transfers might be disorienting and prices may be high the experience is fully worth it."

Utility

Brehar's mirror is mostly used for instantaneous travel across large distances or for urgent deliveries. While mainly use for fast travel between major cities the mirrors also know other uses. The most wealthy of people are believed to possess their own pair of mirrors to escape danger. Nations who are at war are known to use the mirrors for fast resupply and movement of reinforcements.   There is one famous case where a portable mirror was used by a man to steal a princess away from her family and marry her. However evidence and witnesses of this event seem to disappear as soon as they appear.

Manufacturing

To cast Brehar's mirror a group of skilled mages is needed. While the name may suggest a mirror is needed, the spell can actually be cast on any reflective surface. After the surface is enchanted it can be connected to other surfaces that the same wizard has created. If one wishes to connect two mirrors created by different wizards they need to obtain that wizards Magical Signature.
Inventor(s)
The enchantment was first created by Brehar who made the tragic discovery that one mirror should always be connected to another.
Access & Availability
Brehar's mirror is widely used across Shanalar. Every major city has one, as do the academies of magic. Most cities have guards and a toll booth stationed at their mirror. While travel through the mirror is quite common not everyone is willing to pay the price set for its use.
Discovery
In one of the branches of Welchet University , a student wizard was fed up by running errands for the higher-ups. Trying to find a permanent solution for traveling long distances the wizard, Brehar the forgetful, enchanted a large mirror with a portal spell. While on an errand in the main branch of Welchet University he enchanted another mirror with the same portal spell. Sadly Brehar, in his eagerness to return home, forgot to connect the two portals. Brehar, at the exact moment he stepped into the mirror, noticed his mistake. "Burn my hat!" were the last words Brehar exclaimed as he entered the mirror, or so his colleague, who was with Brehar during this time, told the headmaster.
