Extradimensional Eldritch Terror
The eldritch terror from the Deep Planes was the true force behind the Universal Brotherhood’s Project Hope. The program that was to rebuild the Redmond Barrens was in fact a way to assimilate the dispossessed homeless population into vessels for more of her insectoid children. Her need of mortal resources was the project’s downfall. Her agreement with Renraku to use the less ideal hosts as unwilling test subjects in their biotech experiments gained the attention of the UCAS FBI. The runners infiltrated Project Hope and exposed its true nature as well as the vast Hive network beneath Seattle. The Brotherhood’s assets were seized by the UCAS government, officially for tax fraud. After the government and their Knight Errant contractors cleared out one of the hive clusters, the other retreated deeper into the underground.
