Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They are in a symbiotic relationship with Insubirds. After about ten standard years, their blood sugar starts to fluctuate, which grows more and more extreme as time goes on. They used to only live fifteen standard years because this would eventually be fatal. However, the bugs produce an insulin-like chemical as a waste product. The bugs inject them with insulin when they detect a change in blood sugar, and in return the bugs get fed and protected from predators.
