Fulnine

Alasdair Vulind (a.k.a. Fulnine)

Physical Description

Body Features

While no portraits of Fulnine exist (as this was before the invention of the camera) we do have some physical descriptions of them from reporters and others, as well as a few sketches. From all these, Fulnine appeared to be slightly taller then the average Scyll, although it is unknown weather size is meant to be taken literally or as a measure of importance. They has white hair, which they kept cut short (a rarity for that time), as well as grey eyes and bronze skin. They tended to dress rather plainly for their station, although that could be because of all the hands-on work they were doing.

Personal history

Fulnine (born Alasdair Vulind) is, to say the least, a controversial figure to the Scyll. As a primary figure in The Separation Tale, the separation of the Celer and the Soler could theoretically be blamed on them.

It is agreed by most that Fulnine was a real historical figure, but there are a lack of historical records around that time. Thus, we must extrapolate from what we know to be true from the myth.

Fulnine's early history is an enigma, and the official myth doesn't give us any details. Even their official year of birth is an estimate. The most common theory is based on their last name. "Vulind" is an old name meaning "from the swamp", so theories go that Vulind was born in Swamp Electa, the closest swampy area to Evange Mountain. Some Soler, going with their own version of the myth, claim Fulnine was a demon, and thus would have been created in Senfer, the realm of demons and damned spirits.

We know that Fulnine did invent the Windpipe, a revolutionary piece of technology for the Scyll, though how much supernatural help they received is unknown, as well as whether they somehow "stole" the idea, as the Soler assert. However, because of this invention, there was a split between those who wanted to embrace it and those who wanted to reject it. Those who accepted it became the Celer, and those who did not become the Soler.

The rest of Fulnine's life, it is said, was spent designing the floating cities and maintaining the Windpipes that powered them. We do have some records from this period, with Solare Asure I, the first official king of the cities, appearing to consider them a close friend. They also took a pupil named Lou Teson, who later completed many of their unfinished projects.

When Fulnine died childless in 181 BKC, their body underwent Demura , the Scyll process of mummification, and was buried under Evange Mountain. The remains are closely guarded after a series of attempted desecrations by Soler extremists.

Accomplishments & Achievements

  • Architect of Pisani (possibly, it's unclear which city it was exactly)
  • Pretty much a legendary hero to the Celer and a legendary villain to the Soler

Personality Characteristics

Personality Quirks

From letters and reports, Fulnine seems to have been a very energetic and friendly person. The diary of Solare Asure I tells of how Fulnine would work on one project for a while, get up, pace around the room, and then go work on something different. This energy and hyperactivity may be why many of his later inventions were completed by his pupil, Teson. It may also be why, despite being a member of the court, there is no official portrait of Fulnine, as being painted usually took days.
