Deity

Deities are beings with so much Ether in their being that it allows them access to a higher energy spectrum (known as the Celestia-Inferna Spectrum) and lets them live indefinitely. While this term is usually applied to gods in a pantheon, any immortal angel, demon, or natural spirit could be classified as a deity, provided they are immortal and can access the Celestia-Inferna Spectrum. Any being that is not a deity (i.e. has a fixed lifespan and more limited power) is classified as a mortal.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Deities seem to be able to take on any form they wish, and their "true forms" are a source of much speculation among scholars. The most widely held beliefs that deities are beings of pure energy, or their forms are so incomprehensible and eldritch that it would cause any mortal to go insane or die upon viewing it.

Genetics and Reproduction

There are three known ways the Deities can be formed:
  1. Having Deity lineage (Two Deity parents, one Deity reproducing asexually, or (rarely) a Deity and a mortal)
  2. Born of a burst of energy (such as a supernova) that had the right components and energy frequency
  3. A mortal absorbs enough power from a Deity to become one (a very rare process)

The Death Of A God

Most believe that it is impossible for a Deity to die. That is only mostly true. For a deity's body to "die", they must be defeated by an equal or greater force. Bringing a deity back completely requires the same amount of force that killed then. Minor deities can be resurrected by major ones if their soul is retrieved before it goes to an afterlife. Major deities, oddly enough, are actually more vulnerable to death because there are fewer beings that can bring them back. However, they are still able to manifest somewhat after death for brief periods of time. When a major deity is killed on an area of land, it becomes "consecrated" with ether, and children born on or near that land have a chance of becoming powerful Ethites by passively absorbing some of the dead deity's power.
