The Lady

Faith amongst the elves is largely monotheistic in the Lady.

Mythology & Lore

Elves believe that life began for them when the Sisters created them from the waters of Loch Loinnir. The Ard’nisse shaped from the water itself, and the Fyane’nisse from the flora in the lake. Progeniture of the Ard’nisse is the Lady, who can still be seen on rare occasions on the lake. Her form is that of an elf with a body of prismatic water, with a cerulean light shining from her heart. Creator of the Fyane’nisse is the Lost Sister. It is said that when she created the wild elves, she imbued too much of herself into them. By doing so, she vanished and only her shimmering silver heart remained. Elves believe that her great power was too much to dwell solely in the Fyan’nisse, and the excess essence created the halflings. With the loss of her sister, the Lady remains the only divine entity worshipped by the elves.   When the Lady learned of the loss of her sister, she lashed out against the only beings she could. She was spiteful against the Fyan’nisse for costing the life of her sibling, and began to curse the race. One of the largest groups created had their appearance and demeanors twisted by her spite. Their skin blackened, eyes reddened, and hair grew white as souls were twisted. In a moment of sobriety, she saw what she had done and regretted it at once. Though the wood elves were the source of her loss of life, they were also all that remained of her spirit. The curse had forever changed the group, though, and with great shame she cast them far from the realm into obscurity.

Priesthood

Followers of the Lady serve as spiritual guides for the people. They often act as counselors, and mediators in disputes. Her clergy take strict vows in her service, pledging to only follow her will and that or the hierarchy of the faith. In that order. Strict adherence to rules and an absolute dedication to the Lady has resulted in few following that path. By dedicating their lives to such, though, much respect is earned from fellow elves. Clothing of those in service to the Lady is always loose-fitted and flowing, in various shades of blue. Wearing of all blue clothing is not restricted to only the clergy, but is looked down upon for any who are not her devoted.
