Ard’dyanir

High in the black mountains on the northern border of Aenuleria is the imposing and beautiful bastion of Ard’dyanir. The exile capital is known to others as High Keep. Chosen for its extremely defensible location, the shapers of the exiles utilized magic to form the mountain rock into large black walls. In shifting the stone to do so, they uncovered vast quantities of precious stones beneath the rock. Mor’Gren saplings brought with them failed to take root in the cold environment so far from Loch Loinnir. The wealth of gems gave the exiles another source of beauty with which to construct their new capital. All buildings in the capital are created by the shapers, who shape precious stones from within the mountain to form whatever building shape is desired. Their impressive work and tireless efforts at shaping the great city have given the shapers much prestige in the community. Long hours in the mines leave them heavily bruised at times, and yet they come forth to continue working their magic. The Emerald Citadel is constructed entirely from the green gemstone of its name. Interior walls also incorporate additional precious stones to further accent the rooms. The High King only allows the use of emerald for royal buildings, or for temples. Association of green and beauty with the ruler is something desired, as a reminder of their old green home. Opal is similarly restricted, only to use as roads and walkways. This gives a breathtaking effect, as shimmering colors lead between sparkling buildings comprised of all manner of gemstone in the city. Mountainous trees are also heavily used in Ard’dyanir. Many roads are lined with them. Parks are also frequent, to help alleviate the home sickness of the exiled elves.

Government

Ard’dyanir and all exile settlements are presided over by the Ard’Galri (High King) Valantir. He allows the other bastions their own Galri (King), so long as they acknowledge him as their sovereign. Valantir is the son of Galrenir, and much respected by his people despite the fate of his father. Residents of the bastion consider the jeweled city to be a creation worth the exile. From it are provided safety, stability, and beauty. Politically Valantir does not seek a reunification, though he has allowed some of his followers to pursue an embassy in Ard’byeel. The reasoning is unclear. It is whispered that there may yet come a day where he seeks vengeance for the death of his father.
