Glass Greenhouse

Glass Greenhouses hold a vital role in Kryros burrow society a serve both the purpose of providing sustenance and preserving the beauty that characterized the old world. They are large areas nestled beneath the surface but connected to it by carefully crafted glass domes that let the sunlight enter but at the same time shield the contents from the abundant and violent storms that roam in the Twilight Zone.
There are two types of glass greenhouses, each one focused on one of the two main purposes of such structures:

Farms

Farms are focused on providing food to the population. They diligently nurture crops in very carefully maintained conditions with state-of-the-art horticultural practices to ensure a bountiful harvest of nutritious vegetables. While in the ground they grow vegetables and cereals like carrots, wheat, beans, onions, barley, and lettuces in the ground they use the walls to grow grapes, nectarines, peaches, pears, and apples to make use of the available space. To improve soil quality they use mushrooms to turn waste into compost, also getting food in the process. In the same maner, they collect honey from the bees they use to fertilize the crops.
While they are not food, linen, hemp, and cotton are also very important crops, as they are needed for important resources like paper, clothing, and vegetal leather (given the scarcity of animal leather, a hemp-based substitute is commonly used).

Parks

Parks, also called botanical gardens, are constructed to emulate forests and remind the resplendent beauty of the world that once was. Both to pay homage to marvels long bygone and a repository to preserve vegetal species that can or potentially could in the future be used for medicine or other specific purposes. Given the findings of new plants on the surface and the lack of records, such forests are more often than not historically inaccurate, often mixing species of distant places.

Manufacturing

The process of crafting a Glass Greenhouse commences with the creation of a cylindrical cavity on the surface, either from scratch or making use of already existing holes. The usual size of the hole is about 100 meters in diameter.  Then a glass dome with a carefully calculated curvature is built to protect the greenhouse from the environment while it lets the sunlight enter the chamber. Then several irrigation channels are built to ensure that all the plant life inside is provided with proper sustenance.  To improve their efficiency several advancements were made, like pressurized doors, ventilation shafts, and thermometers were added to ensure the optimal temperature of the artificial enviroment.
