The Kingdom of Rainum

Basic Information

The Kingdom of Rainum is a predominantly human kingdom that is ruled by a monarchy. In the past they were known for warring against the orcs, goblinoids and neighboring countries as during the founding of the country, they had to cut a portion of the land for themselves. Now the country is more concerned with growing and protecting it's people as they spread to the corners of their kingdom and beyond.   The country is ruled by a king who's bloodline can be tracked back to the founder of the country. The king is advised by a council of representatives who aid him in making decisions that effect the country. These council members are either nobles who own some villages in Rainum, wealthy businessmen that know the country well, or are elected by the people in a town or city.

Geography

Most of the country is made up of rolling hills of tall green grass and wetlands created by frequent rain. However, the dominating feature on most maps is the Ever Stretching Forest. This massive forest started as a collection of a few trees, and by some unknown magic it expanded and grew outwards filling the center of Rainum with a massive impenetrable forest. It is said the animals inside the forest are infused with magic and the forest seems to cause those who venture inside to get lost and to never be seen again.   Positioned on the Western coast of Sarion, Rainum has the DryPine Forest to the North West and the GiantRock Mountains to the north. Wrapping around Eastward, the GiantRock Mountains splits into another large mountain range called the FarCliff Mountains. There is also forest and hills of Oakland to the South East. Finally there is the DragonScale Hills to the South West and the DangerWood along the Western coast.   The FarWater River branches all across the Eastern plains before connecting to Flins Lake. There is also the Forest Water river that connects to Flins Lake as well. Flins Lake empties Southward towards Roshka. Finally the Mist River Pours from the mountains near Vale and connect with a smaller river before dumping out into the sea.   politically, there is the high elven Lands of Elsvyyn to the North, the wood elven Kingdom of Mauntion to their East and the orcish Country of Roshka to the South.

Settlements

Most of the towns in Rainum are relatively small, and most of them are built around good agricultural places. There are many small hamlets dotted all across Rainum, but these are too small to place on maps. Many of the larger towns will be briefly discussed here.   Rainum City: This is the capitol city of Rainum. Built over a large gentle sloping mountain, with the royal castle standing at the peak of the mountain. The rest of the city is packed into walls that encircle the base of the mountain with a poorer slums town built around the outside the wall along the southern side. There is a rode that leads to a port town that is also considered a part of the city despite being a few hours from the city proper.
Flat Hill: Is a small farming village set atop a extremely fertile hill along a short river that leads north. The town itself is on top of the flat topped hill, while many farmers have their craps growing along the slopes of the hill leading down into the surrounding wet grasslands.
Vale: Is a medium sized town. It is said to be a magical place where the gods are close, due to this, many churches, shrines and monasteries have been built in the mountains surrounding the town. Many of the denizens of the town work with the priests to build and upkeep the holy buildings.
Roswinal: Is a medium sized town on the eastern plains of Rainum. It serves as hub for many of the smaller farming villages that dot the surrounding landscape. Many nobles who own farming villages live here in nice Manors and as such the town is very well upkept by the taxes of those nobles.
Sunny Town: Is known for its vast fields of golden grains. It is a small farming village. But it often attracts travelers and other attention thanks to being so close to the FarCliff Mountains.
Elamton: Is another small framing village, and is single days travel from Roswinal. Travelers often stop to rest in this village as they travel along the highway.
Flins: Is a large city that is set along the bank of Lake Flins. The city itself is known more for fishing and logging, although there are of course farms around the city. It is the second largest city in Rainum Behind Rainum City itself, and is very diverse.
Sanus: Is a medium sized town near the South Eastern border. Built around a very large and plentiful mine that contains rare minerals, it is very wealthy. Ruled by a few noble families who own stakes in the mining operations almost all industry in the town is connected to the mines.
Dragons Ridge: Nestled into the DragonScale Hills, the town is said to have many connections with dragons. It is said the hills are a common place for dragons to mate and leave their eggs to hatch. Others say that dragon wyrmlings live openly in the town, but travelers say that it is nonsense.
Transmere: Is a small town along the Highway. The surrounding land isn't as fertile as it is in the East and although the town has agriculture, it survives off the travelers who pass through either heading North or South.
Other Settlements: Within the neighboring lands, the towns and cities closest to Rainum have large concentrations of humans who move out of Rainum for other opportunities. There is also the Kobalt hills which is home to a few tribes of clan dragonborn.
