Roshka

Brief Summary

Roshka is a country of mostly neutral orcs. The country is rules by a democracy and are often isolationist in their view on world dangers. Many of the orcs compete wrestling and other physical games to pent up energy they have. They fight on many fronts against their orc cousins who do not wish to stop following Gruumsh. The country is mostly made up of dry plains, desert and forests with mountains cutting through.

Basic Information

Roshka is the home of the orcs, it is where they were first born, before spreading all across Sarion in clans. They would fight and attack any other creatures they came across, including the Yuan-Ti who live in the Dry Swamps. There was very little growth within Roshka for most of history. The orcish clans who followed Gruumsh had no interest in anything besides pillaging and killing.   After many of the orcs were defeated by the humans during The Rainik Wars, one orc thought that the orcs could try a new way of life. In the following years a single orc became a prophet of sorts and told the orc people that they did not have to pillage and raid, that they could do so much more. Finally this ended with the ascension of Roshka and the fall of Gruumsh.   Roshka became a democracy where they would elect leaders of their towns and cities to represent them and help speak for them diplomatically with other countries. There was much skepticism from the neighboring countries, but eventually the country named Roshka, after their prophet and god, was accepted.   Now the orcs of Roshka find new outlets for their natural strength and fighting spirit. Many orcs became miners, masons, mercenaries or any other job that allows for them to use their strong bodies. In Roshka there are also countless fighting arenas and sports games that orcs use to compete and "destroy" each other.   Most of the towns and cities in Roshka are almost completely inhabited by orcs. The members of many of the other races simply don't share the same culture as the orcs and it is difficult for them to fit in or feel comfortable. Most often it is humans who immigrate to orcish towns.   The orcs often trade in things like metal, gems, stone, masonry and even mercenary aid to those who are willing to pay. Besides these exports they do little trade. They are mostly self sufficient and spend most of their time looking for fulfillment in their lives, often looking to Roshka for guidance, and competing in sport with other orcs.   They also must fight with their 'True Blood' orc cousins who wish to kill every orc who has turned against Gruumsh. Although evil orcs are spread all across Sarion, many of the ones in Roshka have been pushed back into the Dry Swamps. Roshka has walls and towers watching over the valleys between the Dry Swamps and Roshka itself.

Geography

Most of Northern Roshka is dominated by forests and plains. In central Roshka are deserts, Three Point Lake and mountains that make the border with the Kingdom of Rillifane. The west coast of Roshka, called the Bronze Coast for the color of the brown sandstone that lines most of the beaches and coastal cliffs. Along the Bronze Coast are the Broken Islands, a series of floating islands that are held in the air by powerful air magic from when the cult of elemental air attacked Roshka and tore part of the country into the skies. Finally in the South, almost half the country are dry plains where strange animals roam and life is difficult. Cutting through the dry plains are the GemMetal Mountains named so for their abundance of natural resources. Finally in the Southeast is the Dry Swamps where True Blood orcs and Yuan-Ti live.

Settlements

Peace Maker: This is the capitol city of Roshka. The city is built where Roshka ascended to godhood, a massive church in his honor is at the center of the city. Although the majority here is of course orc, the city has members of all races who live there and is the only Roshkian city with proper schools and colleges.
TradeMaster: This city was named after a small clan of orcs who were some of the first to trade animal skins and treasures they had with the humans of Rainum. The city is the second largest in Roshka and the most diverse.
Dentes: This small town is nestled between some mountain and the Shadow Wood. The town is made up mostly of warriors who watch the Shadow Wood for True Blood orcs who still hide within the forest.
Port North: This is a large town that often does trade along the roads and rivers with Rainum to the north and Rillifane to the East.
SeaGutter: This is a small fishing town that both fishes in the Roshkian Gulf, but also watches over the coasts to make sure no evil creatures attempt to make their way ashore into Roshka.
StoneSmasher: This is a large town nestled into the mountains, almost the entire town works with the mines in the mountains in one way or another.
Sea Conqueror: This is a small village of orcs that live along the southern coast. They mostly fish and mind their own business, but will sometimes help the triton that live off the coast when a powerful threat arises.
Path Forger: This small village is home to many of the orcs whose homes were destroyed when the cult of air tore up part of the Bronze Coast.
