The Siphoning

The Siphoning is a ritual developed by Humans during the ancient days that allowed them to access the innate magic of other races such as Elves and Dwarves.

History

When the Humans of Vinnaverold began seeing their competing races bend the elements to their will, they sought to do the same. They learned the ways of druids, the spells of wizards and the secrets of gods but there was one thing humans didn't have, innate magical ability. In the ancient days, the ability to produce magical heirs was not something Humans could accomplish. So they developed the Siphoning, a pretty horrid ritual where the magic is ripped from the natural born Mage through a series of rituals using enchanted hooks to physically pull magic from the body. Since the ancient days of the ideas inception, the Siphoning has evolved, enchantments getting stronger and sorcerers bloodlines becoming more common. Now with the advent of harnessing technology and imbuing the process with more careful implements, the process no longer kills the victim allowing for sustained profit.

Execution

In order to complete the ritual, one must procure at least four enchanted hooks and have a willing or docile, sorcerous subject. They then must be affixed with the hooks within a binding circles with four collection orifices within the binding circle. Then you must chant ancient words and a spellcaster of significant level will spend their highest level spell slot and their assistants will pull the hooks, tearing an amount of magic from the victim as was spent as a spell slot, the catalyst to release.
