Tal-Kwena

The Valley of Man, found between the lands of the oathbound kings and the Icespire mountains, played hosts to the entire species of man for a long time. There, rulers and warlords known as the Lords of Tal-Kwena united scattered tribes of Humans and established cities and societies. These expanded as Elves, disillusioned with the ArchFey they served and Dwarves, bisected from the collective came to find refuge, creating a multi cultural and multi racial society long before the goblinoids united. This lead them to create great heroes, born from all races within Tal-Kwena and their mighty deeds left many legends behind them. However, when Akatorvak the Red was felled and the Flood waters came, many of those tales were lost, not carried on by the survivors of the Badriel Exodus. Thus the Lords of Tal-Kwena and their champions fell into a forgotten corner of history as the Barons rose in their place.   However, there is wondrous lore in the forgotten tales of Tal-Kwena. It was not a place of horses and buggies, straw houses that could be blown down by onerous wolves nor knights that rode astride great beasts and rescued fair maidens from towers. No, Tal-Kwena was the jewel of civilization, a conglomerate of races and ideas, technologies and magics and was unrivaled by all but nature's most fowl. Dragons and humans would converse in the skies or from the tops of sky scrapping buildings. Travel was nearly unheard of since a vast array of teleportation circles connected the towns and cities. Peace was universal with Clockwork Armies patrolling hill and vale and powerful heroes defeating foes with incredible feats of magic and skill.   Alas it was all to fall to Akatorvak. After conquering the Orcs within the mountains and allying with the Lolthian Drow, Akatorvak took Tal-Kwena away from the world. The Hero Rizon was too late in felling the beast as he plunged the advanced civilization into ruin by flooding one of the Icespire Peaks. Now all that is left of the Tal-Kwena is a sect of Ulasis worshippers that where saved by divine intervention who remember Tal-Kwena as a period of dark times under the reign of Akatorvak. While much of the memory of Tal-Kwena is gone, their structures may still remain, as catacombs beneath the swamps of the Shadelands.
