Effect
Over 1 hour, you may imbue set of chess pieces with a number of abilities based on their inherent purpose.
You create 10 pawns: When these pawns are being held, they imbue a +1 bonus to AC per pawn you hold.
If you are attacked, after the attack resolves, despite whether the attack hits or misses, or you would take damage from another source, you sacrifice a pawn, reducing it to a non-magical chess piece. Once you no longer hold a pawn, your AC bonus fades.
You create two Knights: While you are holding a Knight, you are immune to attacks of opportunity. If you don't move on your turn in combat, sacrifice a Knight.
You make two Rooks: At the start of your turn in combat, you gain 10 temporary hitpoints. If you have less than 10 temporary hitpoints at the start of each of your turns, you gain hitpoints to fill you temporary hitpoints to 10. If you have 10 temporary hitpoints or more, Sacrifice a Rook.
You create two Bishops: While you have a Bishop, you may change the dimensions of an area of effect spell to be a 5 foot line with length equal to the maximum radius of the spell's effect. If you cast an area of effect spell without changing its dimensions, sacrifice a Bishop.
You create 1 Queen: While you have the Queen, you gain access to the list of Queen's Gambit Cantrips. You may cast these cantrips even if you do not have the spell casting ability with a +6 to hit. If you do not use one of these cantrips on your turn in combat, Sacrifice the Queen.
You make One King: While you have the King, you gain the ability to use your entire movement to teleport to a creature that is holding another piece created by this spell. If you don't, sacrifice the king. You cannot choose the same person on subsequent turns.
