The trade unionists who formed the Interplanar Worker's Association (IWA), sometimes called the First International, recognised that the working class was an international class which had to link its struggle on an international scale. By joining together across national borders, the workers would gain greater bargaining power and political influence.

History check…How they lost touch: Anarcho-syndicalism is a political philosophy and anarchist school of thought that views revolutionary industrial unionism or syndicalism as a method for workers in capitalist society to gain control of an economy and thus control influence in broader society. The end goal of syndicalism is to abolish the wage system, regarding it as wage slavery. Anarcho-syndicalist theory generally focuses on the labour movement.[1] Reflecting the anarchist philosophy from which it draws its primary inspiration, anarcho-syndicalism is centred on the idea that power corrupts and that any hierarchy that cannot be ethically justified must be dismantled.[2] So many people are dying in mining accidents. It doesn’t make sense not to care about the lives of your workers, but then the stench… Suspicious dead wife. Pause… leave room for reaction and competing anecdotes. Maybe this makes dying feel more immediate. Maybe that’s why the material plane is so fucked up. When people think you’re dying they really listen to you… or when you’re afraid of dying you exhaust yourself trying to give your life meaning.
