Session III: Trouble in Saltmarsh

General Summary

Returning to town, the PCs find that the town guard has mobilized, and sent half of its manpower off to the Dreadwood, in response to a monster incursion. (20th Patchwall) They return the stolen trade goods to the Pennyworth warehouse, and inform the family.   We learn about everyone's living arrangements: Zaria lives in a small townhouse (owned by her family) with Lyra as a roommate. Grogu lives on his fishing boat. Whimbrel bunks in a workers' boardinghouse. Eliandra lives with her family in a rundown house away from the docks. On the night of the 20th, there is a rumble on the docks: fisherfolk rail against the dwarves, "coming to town to change everything!" and form a mob heading towards the dwarven bar and houses. Our heroes see some of this, and race ahead to warn the dwarves and the Watch. Some of the rioters were turned aside by fast-talking, but then the party members noticed that some of the rioters were deliberately heading for the town jail, well-armed. They got into a brawl with those who were trying to spring the arrested smugglers.   A bribed guard, 3 smugglers (including the cook captured yesterday), and 2 local thugs all are locked up. Ned Shakeshaft is fingered as the ringleader.   Everyone goes home for the night   (21st Patchwall) The party sail back to the "Haunted" house, using Grogu's boat and the sailboat they'd captured before.
