T'thelan (Tether)

T’thelan, or better known by its Common name, Tether, is located atop the Lalandir river, as it rapidly flows through Deaddrop Canyon. The canyon is a massive split in the otherwise impenetrable Bohr Mountain Range. Huge metal tendrils sprout from hunks of stone, all of which glow very faintly with bluish runes. The metal connects to the sides of the canyon, seemingly burrowing and merging with the stone. The structure hangs above the rushing river below, and it can be seen for miles on either side of the bohr mountain range. A road on either side of the mountain leads to a tunnel that slowly winds up the mountain. It eventually straightens, and eventually the stone melts into thousands of strands of metallic wires wrapped and woven around each other. This is the entrance to Tether.

Government

Tether is an interesting city in many ways. Not only does it float about the ground, but the power of it’s government floats between two allies. A small sect of humans, allied with the Felwyr nation, as well as an ancient dwarvish clan with roots to Purag the Father. The humans were known as Garwen’s Disciples or just Garwen. The Dwarvish clan is called Thorrmund Tar. The two sects have been allied for as long as Tether has floated above the Landir river. The city is made up of many cultures, mainly those who have interest in the arts of tinkering and magic, and the science of combining the two. Because of this, the city has many districts and different kinds of folk. The Torrmund and the Garwen allot a number of their high-ranking politicians to a council, 3 dwarves, 3 humans, and a represantative from a number of other races, such as elves, half-orcs and even Tieflings. The council is efficient, and normally serves the good of the people. Tether is much like it’s many creations, a well-oiled machine. The folk who live there are content with creating, and going about their lives, drinking and fighting. Also a part of the council is an elected officer of the Felwyr nation. He acts as a Captain of Guard and takes his job very seriously.

History

T’thelan was made thousands and thousands of years ago, and it’s as old as any of the most ancient elvish cities. It took immeasurable power for the magic to take hold and sustain this island tethered in the air. Knowledge of those times is all but lost, and what knowledge remains is hidden behind ancient languages, dark rituals or in temples lost to time. Legend says there was a time where the whole world was at war. After these wars, the humans and dwarves came together to create a city that could float above the ground, giving the city it’s motto: Watch the World. Keep Tethers Strong. Fight the Evil. Many more believe that the gods themselves helped create this fortification of the west, such as the great goddess The Maker. Most dwarves believe the construct was made by their great gods Gabahn of Forge and Drokockt of Power.
