Iceport

Iceport is a town far to the Northeast of the Bohr Mountain Range. The sprawling trees of the Tilvian Forest become less and less thick, as the terrain gradually rises and increases in difficulty. As the landcape rises, a terrible frost takes over, the Deadwinter Tundra. Almost constantly covered in snow, with only brief respites, Iceport is a moderate sized trading town. Iceport is a human city, part of the Felwyr Nation. They secure a port with access to the Frosted Strait, a relatively safe passage to the continent, Kayluae. Iceport’s claim to fame is trading fur and fish with settlements farther south. But every few months a massive ship, larger than any others in Iceport anchors in her bay. The port becomes a hive of activity as sailors swarm to and fro, trading with the strangers from the ship. A river runs through the center of town, about a mile across. There are two tiers of the town. The actual town lies on top, filled with blacksmiths and carpenters and homes and businesses. But under the frost covered wooden boards and walkways lies a network of thieves and “international businessmen”. The Black Market in Iceport is far more extensive than one may believe. At first glance, the bottom tier of Iceport is simple businesses and markets and dockmasters slips. But these are fronts for the smugglers and the thieves. Every 2 or 3 months, the weather abates, the blizzards recede and a strange warmth overtakes Iceport. Snow melts, and suddenly, travel to and fro Iceport becomes much easier. This impromptu spring lasts for about a month or two, until the blizzards take over again. During “The Melt” Iceport explodes into activity, with traders either arriving or leaving the city. “First Melt” is when the traders leave the city to either head south, or to Kayluae to hawk their goods. They use the gold made to then purchase whatever trade they wish in Kayluae, and bring it back to Iceport, and further on to the rest of the continent. Then during the second melt “Final Melt”, the traders return to Iceport, once again trading with the foreigners and starting the cycle over again.
