Personal history
Nothing is known about the Old World that Captain Aranson and the other Settlers hailed from, only that few people successfully fled from whatever disaster ravaged it. According to the legend, the Captain bravely navigated her ship, The Nereid, through squalls and sea monsters, battling sickness and starvation, to bring her people to the west coast of Sala. There their survival was further threatened by harsh winters and frequent conflicts with the native people and magical creatures. As the story goes, just as all seemed lost, the Captain struck a deal with the natives that put an end to the fighting and enabled all parties to share skills and resources. To the table, the Settlers brought their technological and scientific knowledge, the native people brought their food and knowledge of the land, and the creatures brought their magic. Together, they constructed a new home for the Settlers, Aran's Blessing, where all would be welcome. This idealistic peace was short-lived, however, as the conflicts soon resumed as the Settlers continued to push further east. Captain Aranson reportedly died on the banks of the Oracle Lake, although from sickness or battle or something else, it isn't clear. The Crystal River was named in her honor.
Personality Characteristics
Virtues & Personality perks
With her status as a folk hero, the Captain was described as being fierce, formidable, and determined, both in appearance and manner. However, she was also known to be kind and generous, always putting herself before others and avoiding conflict when possible. With that being said, when swords were drawn, those with an ounce of wisdom knew to stand out of the way of her blade.
Social
Family Ties
She is rumored to be the descendant of Aran, the ancient god of the sea, hence the family name Aranson. While this is widely regarded as untrue, it is unknown what the significance of such ancestry would have been since the ancient gods fell out of favor centuries ago in the name of Zielah and Trinitarianism.
Following her death, her son, Gileon, would go on to found the city of Mirour and become the first ruler of what is currently known as the kingdom of Aurora.
