Sajelos
Sajelos originally evolved out of a simian-like family (of species). This family is known for utilizing shapeshifting mostly for socialization purposes, and as such they are very limited to a specific range of shapes universally recognizable as “monkeys”. Most varieties are capable of appearing as most other varieties, but have natural shapes which they resort to for comfort, stability, or sleeping. Shapeshifting is thus achieved primarily by the monkey’s skin (and accompanying fur), with the rest of the body remaining fairly static, especially compared to other animals in the world. Primarily due to the high degree of social interaction between them, most simian species have extensive brain structures dedicated to tracking and understanding social elements, and all information necessary to function in a social environment.
The details are somewhat up in the air, but somewhere along the way a particularly hairless species evolved in this manner: The skin took on more and more functions that the rest of the body could also perform, and members would begin to exchange skins for certain purposes. As this process continued, the genetics describing the growth of the skin began to resemble the remainder of the genome more and more strongly. At a certain point, a mutation occurred whereby the skin and the body took on near-identical genetic prints. The result of all this is that newborn babies are approximately females wearing their twin brothers, in a mutually symbiotic relationship of exchanging blood. When such babies grow to about two or three years of age, they begin to explore and eventually master shapeshifting abilities- both body and skin.
As this evolution took place, the species gradually transitioned into a period of form-tradition. The shape that the mother would take on during pregnancy would mostly impart onto her child, which allowed a tradition of form to develop. The skin, over time, took on more elegant forms, eventually dissociating entirely from the notion of skin, now recognized as something like “clothing”. This shapeshifting notably allows the skin (now clothing) to take on any form- such as becoming a body, and the body to also take on any form- such as becoming clothing. Shapeshifting continued to be an essential function of any sociable person, with ever advancing fashion and beauty, with ornate designs and optimized forms, to display one’s proficiency and skill.

There exists a specially bred food source which, when consumed, provides a temporary extension on life; a regular supply of this substance enables any member to remain perfectly immortal. This food source has dietary requirements that are very similar to the dietary desires ot Sajelos, that being:

-Blood, especially fresh
-Cerebral metter; brains and nerves Sajelos naturally tend to cover each-other, for evolutionary and cultural reasons. Almost all people either wear themselves or their twin, lover, or close friend. The mapping of senses for clothing is not a perfect map to the skin, that is: the sleeve does not feel (to the sleeve), the same way the arm feels (to the arm), and so on.
Common courtesy dictates that one should always be one’s own underwear, often including socks, sometimes shoes, but rarely ever hats. Nudity is not regarded in the same way as it is on earth, though it is still a negative sign, though it is not as bad as wearing only yourself: that is the deepest shame. On the other end, it is a symbol of great status and talent for clothing to take on impressive forms, whether ornate, minimalistic, modern, classical, vibrant, or pure.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Sajelos eyes have five color cones; three like a human, one for ultra-violet, and one for infra-red. The exact sensitivities of the middle three cones (red, green blue) do not line up perfectly with human perception, but are fairly close. IR light is generally perceived as a redder red, and is ignored by the conscious mind; instead the subconscious interprets this light as knowledge about the warmth of objects. The other four cones, in unison, allow them to distinguish between billions of colors. Without such perceptive eyes, humans are not able to fully appreciate many common works of art, or even the many works which appear different in the sunlight.
