Sainsekcux

Sainsekcux, or "the People of the Meadow", are the dominant species on the continents of Kena and Lisgól. They are thought to have evolved around 800,000 years before the start of the First Age in the fertile plains of central Kena.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Sainsekcux are humanoid in appearance, walking on two legs with two other limbs free for use. The have smooth skin and most ethnicities have hair on the top of their heads. Males of the species have a set of curved horns on the front of their faces which in the evolutionary past were used to compete with other males. They also stand a few inches taller than their female counterparts.

Biological Traits

There is a large amount of variation in phenotypes within the species. For example, males and females have different body types and features. Males tend to be slightly taller, with a bulkier build. Females are more petite, but with more prominent breasts and longer hair. There is also a large difference between the different ethnic groups:   Narcux

Genetics and Reproduction

Sainsekcux reproduce sexually, requiring genetic information from two parents. During conception, the female releases gender specific eggs. Female eggs are released in pairs, whereas the male eggs are released singularly. As a result, females are born with a non-identical twin sibling but males do not have twins. The female then carries the offspring in a womb and after a gestation period of around 10 months, they give birth to live young.

Growth Rate & Stages

The average lifespan of Sainsekcux is around 200 years, and they enter a period of “puberty” starting at around the age of 15 before reaching sexual maturity around 25.

Ecology and Habitats

Despite having evolved on the temperate plains of central Kena, Sainsekcux have proven themselves to be remarkably resilient to other environments and have spread out to be the dominant species on two of Sainekós’s three continents. The various ethnic groups of the species have developed their own traits which make them suited to their own environments, for example Cuncux have developed smaller ears and noses to prevent heat loss in the frozen south where they live, and the Liscux females have also developed horns like the males.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are omnivores, hunting and domesticating animals for meat and also growing selected plants for food. Earlier in their evolutionary history, they existed as hunter gatherers, living in tribes of extended family groups.

Biological Cycle

Sainsekcux experience very little biological change based on the seasons, however after the development of societies, thy adapt their behaviour to match with the seasons and to be more effective farmers and hunters.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Sainsekcux males and females are born in the ratio of around 1:2, which means that males often take 2 or more wives. Mating is usually binding, however parents are socially permitted to separate after any children have reached sexual maturity.

Average Intelligence

The Sainsekcux are fiercely intelligent and their ability to use language and work as a group has been the largest advantage which has led to them becoming the dominant pieces.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Sainsekcux have a remarkably well developed sense of sight compared to other animals on Sainsekós, allowing them to see colour and detail at a long distance. Their hearing is also fairly acute, and so is their sense of smell.
