Mukasi

"The people of Mukasi have a confidence that is hard to replicate. Suppose it comes from knowing that at any time, you might become part of the body actually passing and ratifying laws. If I could bottle it and sell it, I'd make a fortune."   Madam Lisa Listra, Interview for The Masagembe Chronicler

Demography and Population

The population of Mukasi is 80% Human, 10.6% Groundless, 6.1% Maritun, 1.3% Ciata, and 2% Other. There are approximately 1.9 Billion sentient people living there, with a population density of 446/km2.

Territories

Mukasi takes up an area 4,256, 657 km2. Much of this is desert and wide savannas, taking advantage of the country's long, dry summers. What started as a small country on the coast spread across the land, and now all of its borders, excluding the Southern border, are coastal. The Southern border runs along the outer edge of the Symposiast Mountains, making it the only country to still share a border with the Symposium.

Religion

The official religion is Tapestrianism, but given the diversity of the country, many other religions have flourished, especially in recent years. Despite a previously exclusionary attitude towards other religions, in the modern era it is not uncommon to see Tapestrian Temples sharing a street with Karlian Cathedrals.
Government System
Democracy, Representative
Currency
The official currency of Mukasi is the Fedha. By and large, physical money is no longer used, though banks will accept said physical currency for deposit. There are 360 shills to a single Fedha.
Legislative Body
Mukasi has two branches of Government - the Upper House and the Lower House.   The Lower House is made up of elected representatives of local areas, a total of 1080 members, each with their own constituency. Laws are discussed and drafted in this house before being passed to the Upper House for review and consideration. It is run by the President.   The Upper House has an equal 1080 members, also one per constituency, but in contrast to the Lower House these members are unelected. Serving terms of one year, each member is a citizen of the area they represent, selected at random. This house can reject laws from the Lower House, and ask for changes, but only twice before it is taken to the Paramount to judge upon.
