Ethics

Good behaviour and a focus on rituals. Law of causation where good deeds are rewarded and bad deeds are punished. By leaving the Way you hurt yourself and those around you. Bad actions and bad words cause people to stray from the Way. If you do bad things people will say bad things about you and as a result bad things will happen to you. Ancestors look after you even after you die so it's important to show filial piety through your good behaviour. If the ancestors didn't observe proper behaviour, their descendants will suffer the consequences. If you neglect the family shrine, bad things will happen to your children. It's forbidden to pick flowers or leaves from sacred trees or to urinate and defecate in sacred groves. When building a new house you need to inform the spirit of all the details, including where the materials come from, who it's being built for. etc...

Worship

Ancestors and spirits are the main focus of worship since there is no boundary between the world of mortals and that of spirits and ancestors. Priestesses become spirits when they perform rituals. It's even possible for a priestess to become a male spirit.

Priesthood

Priestesses can own land and property but are not obliged to marry.
