Arc Oa

The Obsin Oa, the largest guild of shapers from every discipline in Alyeria, developed a series of icons or glyphs to rate the potency and importance of magical items. This series of ideograms became known as the Arc Oa or Archive of the Oa, a catalog of items created and discovered. Though largely unknown outside of the guild, these markings or glyphs were adopted by craftsmen and merchants to pre-catalog items and set pricing. Many craftsmen developed their own unique glyph to identify their work. The Obsin Oa recorded the glyphs of renowned makers for later reference.   There is another set used exclusively among guild members, visible only to guild members via a unique spell that reveals a second glyph that mark items of power and corruption. Whenever these items come into the possession of a guild member, it is verified, tested, and categorized. then an appropriate glyph is etched upon it. Some items are stored forever in the bowels of the guild towers, others separated, deemed too powerful to remain in one spot, and hidden across the planet.   Only a few members know of the locations but can reveal the glyph with a simple spell if they suspect an item. It is said that one or more journals exist detailing the power, purpose, and location of these items. One can only guess the amount of damage and havoc that could be unleashed if a journal ended up on the wrong hands.   Obin Gal became an expert in this secret language, using it to identify powerful sought after items. A few glyphs linked to particularly powerful items began to permeate stories as representations of a path that lead to certain death. These are known as the Omen Oa.
