Green and Grey Layer

Deep underground are bountiful forests, stone caverns, and some have reported seeing large bodies of water. It is an anomaly that the people of the surface cannot explain, but exploit it nonetheless. Fortunately for the natural cycle of this underground biome there are forces that regularly attack outsiders to prevent them from placing permanent settlements in their domain. These creatures have only been described as elementals and monsters who have allied with each other to keep the layer protected from outsiders. Despite these hazards there are people that have been able to create homes and small communities on this layer and some even find agreements with local entities that would normally attack unfamiliar creatures on sight. Nearly the entirety of this area has been unexplored by the surface and is left to theory and speculation on what could possibly lurk beneath.
