The Shadow Coast

An ocean of shadow, a land of crags. You fall in only once and never rise up.

Geography

The Shadow Coast is a Realm unlike others. A series of seemingly never ending 'islands' across a 'sea' of dark shadow. Although few have traveled here and fewer have returned, it is known that by according to various accounts, the shadow ocean is actually the Fall, a state of despair. These islands however appear to be real, not mental or entirely spiritual like the Fall. These are known as the Isles, outcroppings of loose reality among the unreal and unknown. These isles vary in size and shape, but they are all often set with a sort of base of iron, separating the isle from the shadow. As this is, the Devil folk of these parts are capable of passing through and returning from the shallow Fall but not much further than that.

Fauna & Flora

Living creatures vary from isle to isle in terms of species, although it is known that creatures such as insects and flying bird like beasts inhabit nearly every island. Some isles may have the capacity to support large and even carnivorous fauna, but these cases are far and few. The Devil folk of this Realm have domesticated many different species, from giant fiendish bats to shadow gliders to supernatural goats. Little to no known creatures live within the shallow Fall, most who do not spend time on the islands instead fly over the Fall.

The 'plant' based life of this Realm is fairly rare. The most common is a type of purple and red weed that appears on many isles. Tree like organisms grow on the more stable and larger islands, often resembling spiked, massive palms. A few plants that grow berries exist throughout the Realm, but as far as it is known, the variation of these berry bushes are limited. Overall, proper plant life is far and few among the rocky islands of the Coast.

Natural Resources

The isles themselves are often made up of stone and iron, as well as some isles being made of melted glass and obsidian. Because of this, iron and obsidian is nearly limitless in this Realm. A variety of goods can be found on this plane it seems, although next to none among outsiders dare traverse to this Realm for goods alone. Many of the items found from the Coast that can be easily sold include but aren't limited to scrolls, agricultural goods of the Realm, devilish slaves, etc.
