Plen (plɛŋ)
Located on the left bank of the Pevna river, Plen is an ancient bathhouse facility where Wöfali sisters tend the wounded and the weak. It lies on a fresh water source, which is highly valuable in the hot and semi arid Bolnese plain. The relatively cold waters of its baths have made it known in the entire Bolnese kingdom and many desperate travellers come to seek healing there.
History
Origins
Plen was first founded as a simple house of healing for defecting slaves circa 500 PT, on the old sanctuary of the Pevnai tribe. That sanctuary, the name of which has been lost, was highly sacred to the tribe, but the Wöfali church, in an effort to convert the locals, held on to it. Despite great struggle, the Pevnai tribe could not reclaim their sacred land and, in less than a century, most of their folk had been assimilated. Their cultural decline is mainly attributed to the loss of their sacred shrine.
Expansion
Upon the small bathhouse that was built, Wöfali sisters slowly expended stone by stone the original building. Although the building itself remains modest in size, including only three cold baths and a few rooms for various bathtubs, a whole community has developped around it. Subsequently, a small town grew to accomodate the new comers. Ruled by religious women, le clôs de Plen is a political singularity in Bolno.Administration
Plen baths are administered by the council of le clôs de Plen. The council is comprised of ten sisters elected among the baths staff, a cleric nominated by bishop of Galebag, and a representative of the Galebag nobility. Although each member of the council is equally represented in the votes, both Galebag representatives endeavour to increase their own influence and reduce the role of the sisters.Remove these ads.
