Darius Moravia

Male human noble in Goldcrest. Lord Darius Moravia is a (in)famous figure in the province of Goldcrest due to his stance on privatising the Thunderwagons. After making his fortune working closely with the Empire, he started his trading company, Moravia Enterprises. Moravia Enterprises comprises of many trade caravans funded by Lord Darius' own gilded pockets, and he is looking to expand into naval trade as well.
Lord Moravia's arguments regarding the privatisation of Thunderwagons stem from his belief that individuals and enterprises should be able to hire the Thunderwagons for commercial purposes. At the moment, he is fighting a bureaucratic war with the Xoltun Empire and the Arcanists to secure a single Thunderwagon so that he may prove the concept. He sees the Thunderwagons as a means towards a more common market, allowing goods from all across Brimmeghar to be traded more conveniently. Currently, the Empire and the Arcanists (seen as an extension of the Empire, really), are in charge of every single journey and every piece of cargo, and with only four Thunderwagons, a massive backlog of shipments and paperwork is inevitable. Darius aims to fix this by allowing private individuals to fund the creation of new Thunderwagons and tracks, leading to an increased supply of transport. "The Empire simply does not have the resources to fund all of this in a timely manner", he argues, "and we hardly benefit from this magnificent invention!" Lord Moravia has many supporters amongst the less wealthy merchants, and is hated by those who currently have their goods transported via Thunderwagon. He says that though the Empire must somewhat regulate the Thunderwagons, they are simply too expensive for anyone apart from the richest to benefit from them.
