Creation of the Rings

Era beginning/end

Long ago in a galaxy much like our own there existed a species that surpassed all limits. they broke the limits of the self, the limits of the mind, and the limits of engineering. They created vast structures to house their people, created Millenia long art pieces, and enjoyed all the comforts that the stars had to offer. But they knew that the future wasn't a secure one. That even they with their planet-sized machines were fallible to the Void. An unknowing nothingness that stretched on forever. A Nothingness that this species could not fill or fight. It was slowly growing upon all edges of the universe. So they created what would arguably be their greatest work. What we know as The Ark. It was a massive Dyson sphere that would be powered with an artificial and infinite for all practical purposes sun. It would contain every species that the forerunners were lucky enough to find, and would hopefully house many more in the future. The plan did not end there though. In order to protect themselves from interfering with The Ark, they decided to put their remaining resources into a massive exodus to another dimension. They scouted several dimensions all very unlike our own before they discovered somewhere they would believe to be habitable. They decided that soon after seeding the ARK they would leave this universe and move to their next one.
