History

The Zarons were one of the first families to have settled in the Azern Desert. They had started off as settlers looking to find newer lands but they ended up getting lost in the Azern desert. However, they managed to find ways to survive in the desert having found the skeleton of an ancient city. They quickly found the crumbling palace and marvelled at its magnificence. Exploring the halls they found a gushing fountain, it's clear waters bubbling and vibrant in the light of the broken roof. After sating their thirst they continued down the darkened hallways of the palace, its glamour and glow lost to time heraldry long forgotten. Then they came to the throne room, and all that was left was the throne, and on top of it was a crown, covered by the grime and grit of ages past but still it was a thing of untold beauty.   Connor Zaron grasped the crown in his hands and wiped off the dirt and then grinned to himself as he rose it above his head and set it on his head. Then he saw and knew all that this city was and had been, the bustling streets of people who were selling their wares, it's people causally casting cantrips and spells for the slightest need. He then understood what this place was, it was the ancient hub of magic, Zorinia. He looks at his hands and then for the first time in his life he casts a spell and his fate is changed forever.   Many years later, the demon incursions have been getting worse and worse, the foul beings finding pockets within the plane that which held them. It was when The Seal broke and the host of demons emerged from The Other. The Royal Family of Zaron had, by then already come up with a plan to combat the demons. They would find the leader of the demons, Mordakaiand kill him. With the fallen demon's blood, they would be able to reinforce the magic of The Seal.   But, it was not to be. The Father of Peter L. Zaron, Larius Zaron leads the army to their doom. The demons captured Larius and for the first time, Zaron lost. They gave the king a choice give them his firstborn child and they would leave Zaron alone or utter destruction. Beaten and battered, the king agreed, surrendering to their demands.   Peter was still but a young child of only 6 years and was very quickly learning the ways of magic. But one day his father came back covered in blood and with tears in his eyes. The young Peter was hugged by his father and carried to the gates where his father placed him in the claws of the demon lord, Mordakai. Despite his age, he would remember this day with hatred and anger. As years went by the demons conquered more and more of the lands of Darst and the young Peter would sit beside Mordakai and watch the mortals perish and burn as the horde of demons rushed through the cities like a wave of death. Few would survive.   Peter would soon learn while in the demons company he was treated much like a prince would, he was taught how to act properly and the dark arts of the Other. However, he was no prince of theirs, to never have his own power in the ranks to never be the sole ruler of his own. He scorned his family for what they had done, surrendering in the face of death. Was that not what they had sworn never to do? They would have to pay, and he would get his throne. But for now, he would pretend and hide his power and let Mordakai think that he was not as powerful as foretold.   So it happened, one day while the armies of Mordakai were attacking the walls of Jarden he rode off towards the desert leaving the demons behind. No one stopped him, he was of no great importance after all just another pawn that would need to be punished later.   Three days later he had arrived at the gates of Zaron in his silken robes and then he leapt off his horse. His thin figure almost swaying in the winds of the desert as he stood before the walls that he once thought would keep him safe. There was a shout from the battlements, but those were weak and he had things to do, so he rose his hand forward and with rapid and deadly accuracy he launched points of force that shattered the hinges of the gate and there they stood swaying slightly. And with a final shout, he sent forth a wall of force that sent the gates crashing. Then there was silence.   There was nothing that could stop him, the mere weapons that the guards wielded were nothing against his magic. There would be rain and it would stain the city red for years. He soon arrived at the palace and found himself in the throne room.   Larius saw his son and was horrified, the cold and soulless man staring back at him. Drawing his sword he said, "Begone!"   Peter grinned coldly and rose his hands to the sky. His father's body flew upward. "why should I father? Was it not you who left me?" And then bringing down his hands he slammed his father into the floor, killing him. The crown fell off the dead old man's head and rolled to a stop. Peter grasped it with his hand, revealing in the blood that covered it and placed it on his head. Then he fell to his knees and cried over the body of his dead father.   He soon took control of the court, any opposition stopped even before any of the members of the court could oppose his position. With the knowledge given to him by the crown, he now understood why his father had done what he had, it was the only way. Without the dark arts that he learnt from the demons, he would have never gotten that powerful to begin with. So with this realisation he began his crusade against the demons.   In two weeks, he amassed an army that was 50 thousand strong and with the knowledge and the wisdom that the Zaronian Crown bestowed him, he managed to push the demoic forces away from the realm for a decade before they came back in full force.   This was a dance that when on for the next few years, the demons would attack and Peter would bring forth his army and push them back. But then the day came, a host of demons so large and powerful that the battle was a massacre. This would become known as the Perishing. Thousands died that day.   A hasty plan was made amoung the nobility that something had to be done. They sent messagers to Blackthorn Academy to get the assistance of the Exemplar, Almitzer Blackthorn. A plan was hatched to creat a rift in space to transport the entire continent away from the realm it was from and into another, effectively tearing their continent away from the grasp of the demons.   However, in the last moments of the execution of the plan, Mordakai got to Peter and slew him. His son Tobias V. Zaron havong been by his side at the time.
