Mirror Forest

The air is perfectly still. The leaves on the trees do not move, the grass does not tremble. The whole forest holds its breath. There is no anticipation. This is just how the forest is. This forest is always stuck in a single state, never moving. The ponds and small lakes throughout the forest are perfectly still as well. They are difficult to see, reflecting back a perfect mirror of the trees above them.
Eventually, a breeze will rustle the forest. A soft exhalation before the next held breath.

Geography

The mountains to the west of the mirror forest brings water down that collects in the hilly area. Where the hills form deeper basins, ponds and lakes form. As the hills move out towards the coast, the ground slopes more steadily, leading to fewer and smaller bodies of water.

Ecosystem

Mirror lake has a startling variety of life in it, far more than other areas of Rhina. Especially the flora of the area. They are a vivid variety of color, producing art of flowers in clearings, vines and moss decorating the trees, and kaleidoscopics on the ground from the fungi growing through the branches and grass.
The closer one gets to the Roots, the more this is true, with the ground appearing more like a rainbow, and the water glistening with the reflections of those colors. Additionally, many of the species have medicinal or vaguely magical properties. It is ill-advised to try consuming any of it without a knowledgeable guide. Willow-bark disease is just one possible outcome of consuming a plant without caution.
Additionally, magical potential seems to be stronger near the Roots. This may explain the variety of magical plants in the area, but there is no clear explanation for why the Roots would produce more magic, especially since the area is so strictly guarded by the Gardeners.
