The Roots

What lies beyond that tree? So many have wondered the same thing, wandering aimlessly between trunks, walking in circles, becoming hopelessly lost. The Roots are a scared land, guarded fiercely by its guardians, known as the Gardeners. Many assume that the guardians know what lies at the heart of the forest, but this is not true. They augment the magic of the area to protect it from intruders, without ever knowing exactly what they protect. 
Clearly the area is special, and a thrumming magic can be felt by those attuned. In fact, some become aware of their magical connection for the first time in the presence of the Roots. The flora of the place is unique as well, and there seems to be an impossible diversity of fauna.
Many travel to discover the properties of the flora. There is said to be plants that will return one to life, grant eternal life, and grant impossible strength and power.
