Symbol Burner

Symbol burners are tools used by carpenters and artists for burning large letters or symbols into wood, mainly signs and posts. It is a metal object, the size of a teakettle with one side with a smaller entry hole for the fire and a second hole on the other side where you place in metal plate templates with cutouts of the letters and symbols you want to mark on the wood.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Symbol Burner is a teakettle sized cylindrical, metal construction with one hole from which fire is let in with another hole on the other size where metal letter or symbol templates can be placed in that blocks the incoming fire in certain areas to only leave its mark in the holes in the specific shapes. There is a slit in the side of the cylinder where you slide the templates in. There are 2 handles on both sides of the device that an individual can hold, likely from beneath to not get caught by the fire. There are also holes in the bottom of the device where specially made polls can be placed to carry the Symbol Burner to high places. The burning can be done with some sort of flamethrower although since that would be costly when there are cheaper alternatives, fire spells such as firebolt are used instead.

Significance

Symbol Burners are used in towns, villages and cities to write on large signs, signs, markers, posts and other wooden constructions that tend to have text on them.

Rarity
The Symbol Burner is not a rare item but it's certainly not a household item - not because of it being too expensive or hard to find but since it's an artisan's tool meaning most folk wouldn't have a day to day use for it.
