Mastercraft Items

Mastercraft Items, commonly weapons, are the rarest form of item there are excluding magic. Mastercraft items as their name implies are crafted by masters and usually are commissioned by the wealthy, popularly by kings and queens - rulers. Before getting into the quality of mastercraft items, first comes their appearance and distinguishability from common items. The difference is easily spottable. Mastercraft items are much more ornate and precise, and objectively more beautiful than common items, as the people having made the items put much care and resource into making them. The items can often have symbols and gems depicting pictures of gods and their symbols. Mastercraft items are oftentimes bedazzled, having gems and bits of gold and other rich materials in them - mainly for decor. The main difference though, between mastercraft items and common items is their effectiveness. A mastercraft sword is much better than a common sword you buy at the average blacksmith. Mechanically, mastercraft items can be +1, +2 and on very rare occasion +3 items. If these sorts of items are attempted to be given magical effect, the mastercraft bonus vanquished as adding the magic to the item reduces is regular, non-magic capability. Only few and very good artificer's and magic weapon smiths are capable of giving mastercraft items magical bonuses while still keeping the mastercraft bonus. Even the best have only been known to keep a +1 bonus, none having been able to keep the +2 and +3 bonuses from the items. The difference between a mastercraft +1 sword and a magical +1 sword is that mastercraft items themselves are much sharper and harder and just overall better than common weapons, wheres magical +1 weapons have a magical intuition and boost when attacking, as if almost guiding itself towards where its wielder wants it to strike. Mechanically, a +1 magic item is better for the sole reason of overcoming magical resistances and also for the added bonus of being less likely to get destroyed when for example attacking acidic creatures.

Usage

Mastercraft items are most commonly gifted to assassins, in hopes of increasing their chances of eliminating their designated target, and knights, commonly ones serving as bodyguards for kings or at least nobles. Often rulers themselves possess mastercraft items for the nightmarish chance that the men protecting them have died and making the ruler have to try and defend themself. Many generals and rulers who actively participate in wars, being on the frontlines also wield mastercraft weapons. Understandably, mastercraft items are more common and much more used in kingdoms and cities where magic items are very rare and artificers more or less don't exist. Mastercraft items are also used religiously as tools sometimes used for killing and making sacrifices to the gods. The mastercraft items can also just be not used for inflicting wounds and just be used for decoration or held in power as relics or symbols of the gods.

Pricing

It is safe to assume that mastercraft items of +1 tier can be bought at the very least at 10x the price of what the common item would cost. Often the price is raised much higher due to the encrusted gems and other metals used for the production of such items. +2 mastercraft items are much more expensive beginning at a thousand gold at the least. Since +3 mastercraft items are so rare, they can't really be bought from any stores. They are mainly commissioned and for very high prices at that.

Ravoroth Obsidian Steel Mastercraft items

The Ravoroth Clan is mainly only known as the threatening and isolated clan of Dragonborn, that live atop the Dragon Mountain hunting, fighting and doing unthinkable, barbaric things. Most of this is exaggerated and untrue as the Ravoroth clan are actually quite lawful, orderly and the least bit chaotic. Something that is also unknown about the Ravoroth clan is their amazing craftsmanship. The Dragonborn of the clan are great blacksmiths, making excellent use of the obsidian steel that they have loads of. They create good armour and also weaponry from this material and there are actually quite a few blacksmiths who make mastercraft-level weaponry.

Elder Woodelf Mastercraft Bows

The elves of Ariak are exceptional mages and craftsmen with ancient traditions and ancient craft and recipe that they teach to the next generations. Some of these older Woodelf craftsmen who still live craft amazing, nature-like bows unlike the craft of the younger, newer elves. These bows are made by such masters of their craft that even unintentionally these old elves create mastercraft bows.
