The Slumbering City

A city of glass sits upon the endless blue dunes of the Slumbering Desert. The sound of longing rings out from its crystalline walls. It calls out to the travellers of the night. It calls out to the travellers brave enough to seek it.
Elemeya is built around an oasis deep in the Slumbering Desert. The sands of these deserts induce sleep if contact is made with the eyes, many people have fainted or been knocked out by these sands trying to reach Elemeya, giving it the name the Slumbering City.   The springs and lakes of this oasis have a deep blue tint, that came from crystal deposits deep in the ground that seeped into the water and seeped into the plants around it. As a result, much of city's buildings, clothes and food are varying shades of blue. The blue crystals dissolved in the water don't pose any threat to the life surrounding it, instead they help neutralize the effects of the sands of the surrounding desert. The city is heavily reliant on its wells that bring up great amounts of groundwater, which is critical to the surrounding agriculture. Much of the dissolved crystal often forms opalescent gems at the bottom of these springs and grottos. They have brilliant blue hues, spiral patterns on their surface, and often give off a faint glow. These special formations of crystal are called dawn gems. Many dawn gems are fashioned into jewelry worn by the city's populous.

Population

Many of the fey within the city are considered extremely beautiful, despite their numerous eyes. Many the city's inhabitants had shimmering skin or iridescent feathers, and most of the fey moved in a slow, graceful manner. Most fabrics of the city were shades of blue and purple, with clothes made from a combination of thick, insulating fabric for the cold nights and light, iridescent fabric for the long, hot days.

Automation

A few automated servants roam the city, though they are few in number. Most of these servants are made from ceramics, glass and silver, and are highly ornamented.   The origins of these beings are unknown, but they are almost as ancient as the city itself. The techniques and knowledge used to build them have been lost to time.

Glassware

Elemeya is known for its glassware and pottery. The glass made from the sands of its deserts often ended up being iridescent, making both the material and art produced from it a highly coveted luxury. The same could be said for its pottery and ceramic exports, the clay used to make it has a brilliant rich blue. The City of Slumber also traded the blue dye that colored its oases, and the exotic fruit and plants of its gardens. Most buildings within Reverie are made of glass and crystals, with the architecture mimicing the glassware made in the city.
