Dreamscape

The dreamscape is an infinite realm of dreams that the world of Reverie comes from. This is where dreams come from, and where the dreamkin reside.   Before Reverie, there was only the infinite dreamscape, a place of infinite possibility. Where other worlds such as Reverie are created and exist within the dreamscape's infinite expanse.   Like its name suggests, the dreamscape is a realm of dreams. As such it changes to reflect A person's dreams and mind. The dreamscape is formed and changed by the mind of the dreamer. Many of the dreamkin that reside in the dreamscape, create small realms in which they reside. These realms are often a reflection of the maker and are sometimes connected to physical places in Reverie.

Dreamkin

"What is a god, but a dream?"
Often worshipped as gods by humans, the dreamkin are manifestations of mankind's collective dreams. Some are formed from religion and belief, while others are born from the stories people tell one another. They are beings of great power (although their power was often tied to belief in them), who often reside in the Dreamscape   Although many dreamkin are similar to the fey and archfey, their power is directly tied to the dreams and belief people have in them. Although they are great in power and magic, they mostly influence the world through people's dreams.   Though they are immortal, it is possible to defeat and kill those of the dreamkin, and (temporarily) banish them from the world. It is difficult to truly kill them, for they live as long as they exist in people's memories. If many people forget about them, or stop worshiping them, a dreamkin's power would be greatly reduced.   Many Dreamkin formed pantheons, from the cultures that worshipped them. As humanity grew and flourished, so did many of the dreamkin. During the age of slumber, humanity's slow downfall had greatly weakened them. Some were forgotten completely as the societies that worshipped them fell to ruin. Many only survived, through the myths and stories the remaining humans would tell about them.

Inevitable end

Just as Reverie came from the world of dreams, it slowly gets absorbed back into the dreamscape. In a process that takes hundreds of thousands of years, the world slowly unravels bit by bit. As magic becomes stronger and reality becomes less certain, the world of Reverie becomes more and more like a dream. Until it becomes just that, just a dream.
