The Dead Shores

This vast expanse of bleached white sands is utterly silent and devoid of life, save for the roil of the waves breaking upon the shore, though even the sound of the crashing waves appears muffled and far away.

This desolate expanse of bone white sand on the northern shore of the Hinterlands is vast and lonely. Archaeologists and historians have discovered that at one point, this entire beach did not exist. At some point, long ago, the rocky shore became littered with the bones and nails of the dead. Over time they were beaten and broken down by the waves, and became the white sand that now covers most of the northern shore of the land. How this many bones came to be accumulated here, none can say for sure, but one thing is certain, there was no beach here at all before the bones were turned to sand.

This shoreline is an untended graveyard of sorts, and since its discovery has thus became a potent anchor point for all forms of nectomantic magic. Those who seek to gain deeper understanding of the magic of the dead might venture here to seek enlightenment or insight, but one must be wary when walking these beaches. Death has permeated everything here, and other beings may be drawn to this power as well.

Geography

By all accounts, this shore appears utterly unremarkable. The uniform paleness of the bone white sand, the complete lack of any rock formations or other distinguishing features, and the unusual quietness of the area all make this beach rather unnerving.

Fauna & Flora

Death has completely permeated these shores, making the growth of most all flora impossible. Only sparse clumps of kelp grow out in the waters, and the occasional clump of mold will grow on any driftwood that washes ashore.

Animals of any kind would be a rare sight indeed on these shores, save for seabirds flying overhead. Few fish can be caught and even fewer animals can be found living on these dead sands, but creatures of a much different sort have come to live here.
