Mimir

"Wisest of all the gods, Mimir's council is invaluable. He often spoke to Allfather Odhinn in hushed tones, advising him and imparting uncanny knowledge of the cosmos." -excerpt from Tales of the Gods, Vol. 1

Keeper of Wisdom

Mimir is the true god of Knowledge, Patron of Skalds and Bards, and the Keeper of Sacred Wisdom and Ancestral Tradition. His memory is so vastly infinite that he is even capable of recalling events that occurred before the beginning of time. Though Odhinn and his brothers Vili and Ve were the first of the gods, Mimir's knowledge surpassed even theirs. Because of this, he served as an invaluable guide for the gods' actions throughout time.

Though he was killed during the ancient war between the god tribes, Odhinn found a way to breathe life back into Mimir, for he was unable to let such a vast font of wisdom disappear. Mimir was able to survive the Great Cataclysm because his home, The Well of Urd, lies at the bottom of Yggdrasil's roots, even beneath Helheim. Though he became trapped in his home after the realm connections were severed, he is still able to communicate with the remaining gods in Ithavoll through his well, still dispensing wisdom and holding counsel with Baldur.

In his avatar and religious artworks, Mimir is portrayed as a tall, elderly man, with a long, grey beard. His long, grey hair is tied back behind his head, and held together with engraved golden clasps. He wears a simple, sleeveless, white, woolen robe, with a green sash over his shoulder, but most of his skin that is visible, including his face, is covered in runic tattoos and inscriptions. His arms are also adorned with many braided golden torcs and armlets.

Tenets of Faith

The Price of Wisdom

Wisdom always comes with a price, you must be prepared to pay it. Whether you sacrifice a life of happiness and companionship, or even an eye to attain it, Wisdom is never free. The greater the Wisdom you seek, the steeper the price that must be paid... You must decide what you are willing to trade.

Pain in Knowledge

If you are wise, others will always entreat you for your words. If you must tell them something, tell them what they need to hear, not what they wish to hear. There is always pain in Knowledge. Many may be angered by this initially, but given time, they will understand and come to thank you.

Speak Without Fear

Speak plain, true, and without fear. You cannot be afraid of sharing your thoughts.
